John Yaryan was born at Knoxville, Tenn., and removed, in the fall of 1816, with his father, to the south part of Wayne Co., Ind., which was in 1819 cut off by the formation of Union county. He studied law with Judge James Perry in 1841-42, and commenced practice in Liberty. He was in 1846 elected a representative in the legislature from Union county, and subsequently to the senate.
