James Alonzo Boyd

James Alonzo Boyd, only son of Abiram and Nancy Boyd, was born near Jacksonburg, Wayne Co, Ind., June 4, 1814. He attended the schools of Jacksonburg, and worked on his father's farm until he was twenty-one years of age, after which he was engaged in the mercantile business in Jacksonburg for five years. He then went to Cambridge City, Ind., and was variously engaged for three years. He was married in 1868 to Amanda E. Mundell, a native of Wayne County, Ind., and daughter of John and Amanda Mundell, of Jacksonburg. They have four children — John L., Abiram, and twins, Edwin Earl and Edna Pearl. In the spring of 1879 he moved to his present farm near East Germantown. He is engaged in general farming and stock-dealing, and is one of the leading farmers of his neighborhood.
