Louis D. Guth

Louis D. Guth was born May 25, 1857, in the town of Polk, Washington County, Wisconsin. he received his education in the common schools, in the Northwestern University at Watertown, where he was a student for two years, and in the Spencerian Business College at Milwaukee, graduating from the last-named institution January 9, 1876. he resided for a time in Minneapolis, Minn., but for eleven years past his home has been at Kewaskum, Washington county, where he is engaged in the insurance business. Mr. Guth is an active Republican who has been rewarded with a number of offices of honor and trust. He was chairman of the board of supervisors of his town in 1894, 1895 and 1897. He was also special treasury agent for the state of Wisconsin. In the exciting general campaign of the fall of 1898 Mr. Guth was nominated to represent Washington County in the assembly, and was elected over Adolph Rosenheimer, the Democratic candidate. He served on the committees on finance, banks and insurance and military affairs of the assembly of 1899, and was an active legislator both in committe and on the floor.
