Backhaus, a mile south of Kewaskum, on Tuesday, April 19, at eleven in the morning. Her life had been slowly ebbing away during the last four months, cased by a stroke of paralysis. She was in her 80th year. Deceased was born in Germantown, the daughter of an old pioneer couple. She spent her childhood in that town. In 1867 the family moved onto a farm one mile east of Kewaskum. Sept 11 of the same year she was married to Carl Quandt who predeceased her in 1902. They also lived on a farm before they made their home at Kewaskum since 1900. She leaves two children, William of New Fane and Mrs. Fred C. Backhaus of the town of Kewaskum. Mrs. Quandt filled her place in life with that unwavering love, ceaseless care and capacity for sacrifice, which we find in the best of women. She gave her best as a mother and Christian, and her children and friends will link her memory with that love and esteem which she so richly sowed and reaped. The funeral was held last Friday afternoon with services at St. Lucas' Lutheran church at Kewaskum. Rev. H. Heidel conducting the last rites. Burial was made in the cemetery of that congregation.
