“History of Washington and Ozaukee Counties, Wisconsin,” published in 1881 by Western Historical Company. Emil Spiegelberg, druggist, Hartford; business established in 1875 by Mr. O. H. Fehland, who was accidentally poisoned Oct. 16, 1876; in November, Mr. Spiegelberg bought the stock and has since carried on the business. Mr. S. was born in Watertown Sept. 7, 1858; is the son of John and Fredericke Spiegelberg; his parents came to Wisconsin from Germany in 1850; he was educated in the city schools of Watertown, learned the drug business with Mr. Fehland in Hustisford, and came with him to Hartford in April, 1875; continued with him as clerk till shortly before his death, and afterward bought the stock. He was married in Milwaukee, April 19, 1880, to Mary Labuwi, daughter of Jacob Goetz, and the widow of Frank Labuwi; she was the mother of one son, by her first marriage, named Charles.
