Edward Gilmore

Edward Gilmore (1867-1924), a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Brockton, Plymouth County, Mass., January 4, 1867; attended the graded schools, the high school, and Massachusetts State University extension classes; engaged in mercantile pursuits; member of the Democratic State committee 1896-1903; delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1900 and 1904; president of the Brockton Board of Aldermen 1901-1906; member of the State house of representatives in 1907 and 1908; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913-March 3, 1915); postmaster of Brockton 1915-1923; city assessor in 1923 and 1924; died in Boston, Mass., April 10, 1924; interment in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton, Mass.
