Elmer Lawrence Corthell

Elmer Lawrence Corthell, civil engineer of New York City, was born Sept. 30, 1840, in South Abington, Mass. He was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy and at Brown University of Providence, R.I. He is a civil engineer of distinction and has an office in New York City. In 1898 he was a delegate from the United States Government to International Congress of Navigation at Brussels. He is the author of History of the Jetties at the Mouth of the Mississippi; Maritime Commerce, Past, Present and Future; also articles on Jetties, Levees and Ship Canals and Ship Railways, in Johnson's Cyclopedia.
